Many companies are now choosing to run assessment centres (ACs) as part of their selection of high value staff. ACs are multi-method, multi-participant assessment events. Key assessment methods used in ACs are simulation exercises.

As an independent assessment specialist, China Select sources the best tests from a number of excellent test suppliers. In August, we will add two new tests to our current range of mental ability assessments: the “Sapphire” Numerical Reasoning Test, and the CS Diagrammatic Reasoning Test (DRT).


The “Sapphire” is an advanced test of numerical reasoning ability that takes 24 minutes. It is ideal for in-depth screening of high calibre candidates when numerical ability is critical (e.g. banking and finance positions).

The DRT is an entirely new test of logical reasoning ability. Based on flow-charts, candidates need to deduce the operations represented by abstract figures. Just 12 minutes long, the DRT is an excellent screening tool for jobs requiring a systematic approach to problem-solving or as part of a general mental ability battery.

With English language capability being increasingly important to many businesses, we are delighted to announce that China Select is now a licensed distributor of the Versant automated test of spoken English.

The Versant English Test (VET) is a world-leading assessment of oral English ability. Designed by two Stanford professors, candidates are tested via the telephone or computer in just 15 minutes. Detailed reports are available online immediately after testing.
